Upon entering the I.T. field I began my career as a PC repair technician working for a small company in my home town. After several months I was promoted to the position of Corporate Build Manager and was responsible for building, configuring, and deploying all new computer systems and servers sold by the company. Over the next few years, as my skills developed, I began expanding my capabilities by learning about network infrastructures and administration best practices.
For the first four years of my career I spent the majority of my time filling the roles of a repair technician, tech support representative, and junior network administrator. Scattered throughout the beginning of my career I also found positions as a project manager, technical writer, corporate trainer, and installations team leader for a telecommunications company. As the years passed I was promoted to multiple management level positions with various companies in the I.T. field as well, which included department director and senior network administrator. Eight years into my career I decided that computer hardware and networking was not enough of a challenge to meet my personal goals and keep me interested in pursuing my career path. In 2008 I decided to try my luck with development, specifically web application and site development. Finally, after years of searching, I found the path I should have been on from the beginning. Since 2008 I have honed my development skills and have started to branch out into mobile application development to complement my other capabilities. To date I have published several Joomla CMS extensions which you can find more information about on my Joomla Extensions Directory page. I currently have clients all around the globe that depend on my extensions for their website to function properly, and to set them apart from their competition.
In 2013 I decided at the age of 33 to continue my education by pursuing my bachelors degree and then furthering my education by attaining my masters. I spend the majority of my time coding, studying, or riding my Harley through the mountains with my loving wife. These days my work load revolves around a real-estate firm in Olympia, WA that specializes in military family relocation services, an automotive software startup in Miami, FL, and the many clients I develop and maintain sites for across the United States.
I am always looking for an interesting project to work on. If you have a project that you need help with, a site you need built, or other I.T. consulting services you can reach me through the Contact page. If you are looking for support for one of my extensions, please visit my support forums.
I truly look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your development goals,
Terry W. Carter
